Ellis students enjoy a much deserved two week winter break away from school. Some celebrate holidays such as Christmas or Hannukah while spending time with family and friends. My family celebrates Christmas, so we pick out a real tree, decorate it with ornaments and lights, and wrap gifts to place underneath. On Christmas Eve, our traditions are to watch our favorite Christmas movies, one being Home Alone, make peppermint bark, eating an all fish dinner and drive around our neighborhood to admire all of the decorations.
Sophomore Raleigh Mechling speaks for many students, saying break was too short. She spent the time with friends, watching Netflix, and drinking lots of hot cocoa. Another Sophomore, Addie Gardner, took advantage of her free time by working in a cafe and making money. Sophomore Rebecca Moran-Scoratow was also busy, dancing for two weeks and performing four times. Isi Hammer (sophomore) went to First Night downtown on New Year’s Eve and states “It was rainy, but that didn’t stop us from going to some art galleries and seeing cool shows.” Now that winter break is over, I am starting to think about spring break.
